چکیده
A novel vinyl ether monomer from eugenol, 2-eugenoloxyvinyl (EEVE), was synthesized and used as a building block for polymeric epoxy resins. The EEVE polymerized via cationic polymerization of the group leaving allylic functionality eugenol available further epoxidation. Epoxidized poly(EEVE) resins varying in levels epoxidation (epoxy equivalent weights 360 to 870 g/eq) were produced cured with twelve amine curatives at ambient elevated temperatures different time intervals evaluate optimize curing regime. coatings screened high throughput dye extraction “conventional” coating testing methods compared diglycidyl bisphenol-A (DGEBA). Results showed that derived epoxidized [Epoly(EEVE)] can be tuned soft elastic hardness <50 GPa glass transition (Tgs) < 20 °C hard brittle >500 Tgs > 60 by extent nature curative, whereas DGEBA resulted irrespective type curative study. Compared resin, similar or higher crosslink densities obtained Epoly(EEVE) >50% moieties using same These partially biobased compounds have potential competitive petroleum-based applications.

Epoxy Resins in Electron Microscopy
A method of embedding biological specimens in araldite 502 (Ciba) has been developed for materials available in the United States. Araldite-embedded tissues are suitable for electron microscopy, but the cutting qualities of the resin necessitates more than routine attention during microtomy. The rather high viscosity of araldite 502 also seems to be an unnecessary handicap. The less viscous epo...
متن کاملEpoxy Coatings Physically Cured with Hydroxyl-contained Silica Nanospheres and Halloysite nanotubes
Epoxy coatings are usually reinforced by the use of nanofillers, but reactive nanofillers having physical tendency towards epoxide ring opening are preferable. In this work, nanosilica (SiO2) and halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) known for their hydroxyl-contained surface are used and their effects on the curing behavior of an epoxy/amine coating is compared. The spherical and tubular nano...
متن کاملEffects of Colloidal Nanosilica on Epoxy-based Nanocomposite Coatings
Epoxy-based nanocomposites were fabricated with different content of colloidal silica nanoparticles such as 10.0, 20.0 and 30.0 wt %, through solution casting. The covalent bonding interfaces, resulting from a ring-opening reaction between silica nanoparticles and epoxy matrix were confirmed by the Fourier transform (FT-IR) infrared spectroscopy. These nanocomposites were characterized for ...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterizations of Melamine-Based Epoxy Resins
A new, easy and cost-effective synthetic procedure for the preparation of thermosetting melamine-based epoxy resins is reported. By this innovative synthetic method, different kinds of resins can be obtained just by mixing the reagents in the presence of a catalyst without solvent and with mild curing conditions. Two types of resins were synthesized using melamine and a glycidyl derivative (res...
